Provider Access Policy

Support for Parents & Careers

We work closely with families to support career and future steps planning. Parents and carers are invited to:

  • Attend careers events and reviews.
  • Access resources and guidance.
  • Meet with our Careers Leaders.

Monitoring & Evaluation:

We evaluate our careers provision through termly Compass evaluations of the Gatsby Benchmarks. The careers team meet termly to assess provision and document careers specific learning on the Compass+ website. Please see the latest update from Compass + how we are working towards the Gatsby Benchmarks:

Compass+

Parents and carers are encouraged to provide feedback after their children’s EHCP reviews and careers meetings. We review the feedback to inform future decision-making and make any necessary changes to our provision.

Impact of Careers Programme:

Our careers programme is measured through the outcomes of our learners post-school; East SILC tracks destination data from all our learners. Our students regularly move on to a wide range of course providers and employment opportunities through our careers provision and methodology.

Staff

Staff are given regular careers updates through training sessions as part of our annual training cycle. Each setting with a secondary or 16+ provision has a careers team member who can support with any careers-based queries.

These members are identified here:

  • Temple Moor- Manup Sangra
  • BCC- Lyndsay Thorp
  • Roger Cannon- Janet Vinci
  • John Jamieson- Sophie Beattie

Staff can also contact the careers leads, Jamie Darby and Kofi Mensah about any careers support.

East SILC now has 2 members of staff who have a blended role of job coach and transition support to help with careers provision.
